Years ago i was a very avid carp fisherman. I was on a weekend fishing trip at a river (the Waal) here in the Netherlands. At one point in the middle of the night one of my electronic bite alarms started beeping so i got out of my sleeping bag and out of the tent to hook the fish. Immediately after hooking the fish i could feel this was not a fish , but that it was either an object or floating debris. After a few minutes of reeling in the line i could see what i caught , and it was clear that i had caught a dead body. And it was clear that this person had been in the water for a long time , the corpse was completely swollen and the skin was peeling , almost unrecognizable as a human .It looked like scene straight out of a horror movie. i was 19yo or 20yo at the time , all alone in the middle of the night surounded by farm lands at the river with a dead body in the water , HOLY SH!T WTF !!! I had to sit down on my stretcher and smoke a couple of sigarets to calm myself down before i could even think straight again. I called the police and within half an our or an our a whole circus was organized to deal with the (for me crazy) situation. I was later informed by the police that the person in question was German and had been murdered in Germany and was probably dumped in the river in Germany or just across the German/Dutch border. The body had probably been in the water for about 2 weeks before i fished him out of the water here in the Netherlands. So it turned out i had caught a human corpse , and till this day its still the biggest catch of my life. And this is just one of the crazy things i've experienced while night fishing , but certainly the most shocking
